Student researchers have made invaluable contributions to the rich body of research behind the Over-the-Rhine Museum. For this event, we’re excited to welcome three university students who will share compelling stories and insights uncovered through their research at the Over-the-Rhine Museum. Elizabeth Coleman will explore Cincinnati’s stone carving tradition including the work of Leopold Fettweis; Isabella Evans will introduce the city’s vibrant circus history; and Lily Theders will present her project on midwives in Over-the-Rhine.

SPEAKERS

Elizabeth Coleman

Elizabeth Coleman currently works at the University of Cincinnati's Center for the City, helping support history projects across the Greater Cincinnati region. She is a Cincinnati native who holds an MA in Archaeology from the University of Edinburgh. She will be pursuing graduate studies in Historic Preservation at the University of Maryland this upcoming fall.

Isabella Evans

Isabella Evans just completed her second year as an undergraduate at the University of Cincinnati where she is majoring in Art History with a minor in Architectural Studies and is pursuing a certificate in Historic Preservation. Isabella's research interests include studying the Arts and Crafts movement in America, and the American interwar period, and she recently presented her paper titled Requiem in Faience: Louise Abel's Angels at The Jonathan Riess Memorial Colloquium. Over the past semester Isabella has worked for the Over-the-Rhine Museum as an intern and paid copy editor.

Lily Theders

An alum of OTR’s School for the Creative and Performing Arts, Lily C. Theders is currently pursuing her masters in Public History at Loyola University Chicago. Professionally, her scholarly interests center around the early history of obstetrics and the ways in which it was influenced by racism, misogyny, and nativism. In her personal life, Lily enjoys baking sourdough, watching women’s sports, and tweeting about network television.
